Photos

So I am back on track for taking pictures of kids. It is so fun to capture their expressions and personality characteristics in photos. I borrowed some neighbor kids and added some of the hats I have been knitting this winter for some cute photos. Let me know what you think guys! I am also going to be starting a 365 project with an online photography forum, so (theoretically) I will be taking a photo each day to match the posted theme. The plan is to include those on our blog as well...maybe a separate link or something. Today has been relaxing day with plenty of time to edit photos...Steven is working :-) Happy Saturday!!

Pancake Breakfast

Last Saturday, most of the kids in the valley made pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage for residents in Stehekin. The kids assisted with set up of the community hall for the event and shared roles as cheifs and servers. The meal was a hit and the kid's did a great job. Money was raised for the Tupelo Children's Mansion, a local orphanage. Thought you might like to see the photos!

In The Kitchen

A lot of my time this week has been spent in the kitchen...pleasant and enjoyable time that is. I have really started to enjoy baking and cooking because I don't have much in the way of time constraints for my day making the tasks relaxing. Here's the rundown from this week:
Sunday - Two loaves of apple bread; an attempt to use up the last of the apples in the crate on the porch picked from the orchard last fall
Monday - Two loaves of wheat bread; Steven loves to make cinnamon-sugar toast these days for breakfast and snacks
Tuesday - Three batches of apple crisp for the freezer; another attempt to use of the last of the apples and there are still more of them on the porch
Wednesday - Another batch of apple crisp for dessert at a friend's house last night; you guessed it - still more apples left on the porch
Thursday - Two loaves of friendship bread; yep, the stuff is being passed around out here again!
So, I have probably gained back whatever weight I may have lost during my walks each morning. The rule is one must have a piece of fresh bread as soon as it is removed from the oven...mmm..oh so good! No need to worry though, each batch of bread I made, one of the loaves went into the freezer as a contribution to my "stock pile" of food for the summer when our days are busy and long. Of course, I did cook dinner on a daily basis as well so Steven had some protein to balance out those carbs even though he probably could live on toast.

Another Snowy Saturday

Each morning when I wake I pull the blinds up above our bed (before I even get out of bed, think about what I am going to wear, plan my next craft project, or decide what to cook) to see if there is anything falling from the sky..this Saturday didn't disappoint!! White, fluffy, big snowflakes are falling from the sky...just like last Saturday. I might happily rename March to the "Month of Snowy Saturdays." Steven skied to Bridge Creek yesterday for an overnight outing...he is probably wishing the snow had waited until tomorrow, as he is skiing back today, but at least it isn't rain! Happy Saturday to everyone!

Snowy Days

The alarm clock sounded early on Sunday morning to make time for photographing some snowy scenes. The colors are a little off because I didn't have time to do much in the way of edits. Enjoy the snow mixed with a little sunshine!

Hiking in the Afternoon

Last week we hiked up to Bueller's Bluff to get a nice view of the Lake. Here are a few photos from the outing. Check out those mountains contrasted against the bright blue sky!

Steven decided to try a new sport on the way back to our house..snow biking. I don't think he is going to try it again though. He is smiling in the picture, but was in some pain after the ride was over.
