Sometimes I'll come across an artist that catches my attention and they'll be on continuous play for a while. This summer it was Blind Pilot and Greg Laswell. These guys will forever remind me of the time I spent laying out while studying for the MCAT and riding through the Serengeti in a safari jeep (I know, I had a cool summer), but lately it's been British hip-hop artist Jamie T.
I came across his acoustic version of "If You Got the Money" a couple of years ago and fell in love, but it's only in the last couple of months that I've downloaded his albums Kings & Queens (2009) and Panic Prevention (2007). I can't find the same acoustic version of the song I fell in love with, but you can get an idea of it here:
**also, please note his ridiculously bad British teeth... but it's ok, I love him anyway**
*one of my faves from his most recent album*
*a fave from his 2007 album*
*and a cover he did of Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy" that I also love*
Basically, my love of all things British continues and now extends to their version of hip hop. C'mon guys- how can you not love his mix of eclectic beats, bomb lyrics, and acoustic guitar infused magic? That's right, you can't. He may have a messed up grill, but I'd still marry Jamie T. I guess I'll just keep listening to his music till he shows up at my door... I recommend you do the same.
