Home is Where the Heart is...

We've all heard the saying "home is where the heart is."

Fave artist Ingrid Michaelson added to this sentiment in her song Are We There Yet singing...
"They say that home is where the heart is, I guess I haven't found my home..."

In a lot of ways I agree with Ingrid. Sometimes I don't really feel like I have a home. It used to bother me, but now I like to think of it as more of an adventure- I get to choose where I want home to be.

I just got back from Philadelphia where I spent a week with my best friend Allison and her hubby. Philly was a far cry from the places I've grown up and though I don't plan on moving there anytime soon, for that week it felt like home. It got me thinking. I might not have the typical home, but I do have a home. My home is where my heart is, and that is with my friends.

...Now that you feel sufficiently warm inside, I'll fill you in on my trip.

If you're following my blog, you know I was in Pennsylvania to interview at Penn State College of Medicine. My interview went well. I liked the area and I like the idea of living just a train ride away from D.C., Baltimore, and New York, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for PSU. All in all it was a great week.

We...
Took Chocolate Making classes,
Explored the Hershey Chocolate Museum,
Visited Independence Hall,
Photobucket
Saw the Liberty Bell,
Photobucket
I ate at my first Middle-Eastern restaurant and had my first stromboli,
Hit up China Town,
Saw some awesome glass art at the National Liberty Museum,
Photobucket
Went to the Body Worlds exhibit,
And played lots of Scrabble.

Pennsylvania was great. I got all choco'ed out in Hershey, saw the city in Philly, and realized what I consider home in a place that could very well be my home in the near future. I'll keep you posted on Penn State and who knows, maybe I'll be there this fall.
