Video: Aspiring Polish politician Katarzyna Lenart, Re-Creates 'Basic Instinct' In Sexy Ad for her campaign

I hear Nancy Pelosi is shooting her version for her upcoming re-election campaign.

The Huffington Post

We've seen some sexy campaign ads (thanks Conan!), but Katarzyna Lenart's "Basic Instinct" ad takes the cake. And it's not a parody.
Politico's Ben Smith brought our attention to this ad from the 23-year-old, a Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) candidate in Poland's parliamentary election this weekend. According to AustrianTimes.at, the slogan at the end reads: "You want more? Vote for SLD. Only we can do more."

The slogan channels the Civic Platform's slogan, "We'll do more," Politico's Smith reports. The Civic Platform (PO) is the country's ruling party.

Apple founder Steve Jobs dead at 56

I never met a person who switched from PC to an IMac that didn’t love the switch. I don’t personally own an Apple product, but my next computer will be an Apple IMac.

LA Times

Steven P. Jobs, the charismatic technology pioneer who co-founded Apple Inc. and transformed one industry after another, from computers and smartphones to music and movies, has died. He was 56.

Apple announced the death of Jobs — whose legacy included the Apple II, Macintosh, iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad.

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," Apple said. "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve."

Silicon Valley legend Steve Jobs on Wednesday resigned as chief executive of Apple Inc in a stunning move at the technology giant he co-founded in a garage.

The 55-year-old Apple co-founder and pancreatic cancer survivor has been on medical leave for an undisclosed condition since January 17.

Apple said Steve Jobs has been elected chairman and Tim Cook has been elected CEO.

Techcrunch.com

Title says it all. More to come. For now, the letter from Steve Jobs himself:
To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Amanda Know finally set free by Italian appeals court and headin’ home

Amanda’s nightmare is over and she’s on her way home to the United States after being wrongly convicted for murder in Italy.

I’m very happy the Italian system righted an injustice that took almost 4 years of her life serving a punishment for a crime she didn’t commit.

The Huffington Post

An Italian court has overturned the conviction of 24-year-old American Amanda Knox. Knox was found not guilty of killing her British roommate, 21-year-old Meredith Kercher, in 2007, and will be freed from jail.
Knox collapsed in tears after the verdict overturning her 2009 conviction was read out.

Earlier Monday, Knox tearfully told the court she did not kill her roommate. Knox frequently paused for breath and fought back tears as she spoke in Italian to the eight members of the jury in a packed courtroom, but managed to maintain her composure during the 10-minute address.

After the morning court session, Knox relaxed in the prison chapel, playing guitar and singing as she awaited the verdict, according to an Italian lawmaker who visited her in prison Monday.

Knox's co-defendant, Raffaele Sollecito, also was cleared of the murder after a court-ordered review of the DNA evidence cast serious doubts over the main DNA evidence linking the two to the crime.

Amanda is in-line to make big bucks selling her story. But, I think she’d rather not go through the ordeal at all.

'I'm not a promiscuous vamp': Amanda Knox breaks down in court as she makes last plea for freedom

Let’s see if the Italian Appeals Court can reverse an injustice.

Daily Mail

Amanda Knox made a desperate and emotional last appeal for freedom in court today. Speaking in Italian, she pleaded her innocence and revealed how she was suffering too after the death of her friend Meredith Kercher.

'I lost a friend in the most inexplicable way possible,' she told the appeal court in Perugia, Italy, where hundreds of journalists are camped out.

'I'm paying with my own life for something I have not done,' she said on the day she hopes will be the last of four years in jail.

Chi-coms open Obana Fried Chicken joints OFC in China in tariff war

Maybe the president has a future in China after the 2012 elections. He’s always likes to wax poetic about China.

Daily Mail

Is Obama abandoning his bid for a second term in the White House and is giving Colonel Sanders a run for his money by opening a chain of fried chicken joints?

Now that's change you can't really believe in.

But in Beijing, China, a restaurant is actually calling itself OFC with a logo that looks alarmingly like the President dressed in the colonel's clothes. The catchphrase underneath, apparently says 'We’re so cool, aren’t we?'

The
Obama Fried Chicken could be a response to the U.S. filing a complaint with the World Trade Organization about Chinese tariffs on American chicken exports.

According to the New York Times, the tariffs affect an industry that employs about 300,000 people and range from 50 to 100 per cent, which means some Chinese importers paid as much as twice the price for American chicken.

Anwar Al-Awlaki, US-Born Muslim Cleric, Killed In Yemen

Huffington Post

The Yemeni government has released an official statement saying the U.S.-born al-Qaida cleric Anwar al-Awlaki has been killed.

The government says al-Awlaki was targeted and killed 5 miles (8 kilometers) from the town of Khashef in the Province of al-Jawf. The town is located 87 miles (140 kilometers) east of the capital Sanaa

The statement says the operation was launched on Friday around 9:55 a.m. It gave no other details.

If the death is confirmed, al-Awlaki would be the most prominent al-Qaida figure to be killed since Osama bin Laden's death in a U.S. raid in Pakistan in May.

Iran Hikers (Hostages) Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal released from Iranian prison after bail (ransom) is paid

Here’s another example of mainstream media misinformation and how it’s being reported.

First of all these two Americans are a couple of idiots that thought it was a cool idea to go hiking on the Iraq-Iran border.

How many sane people would do this?

So of course Iranian military snatch them up as potential extortion pieces/ political bargaining chips. North Korea did the same thing grabbing two Asian-American journalists and holding them until Bill Clinton got their release after they were pardoned in a kangaroo court.

What these two incidents have in common is how the mainstream media is not calling them what they actually were-hostages being held by rogue governments.

The Huffington Post

After more than two years in Iranian custody, two Americans convicted as spies took their first steps toward home Wednesday as they bounded down from a private jet and into the arms of family for a joyful reunion in the Gulf state of Oman.

The families called this "the best day of our lives," and President Barack Obama said their release – under a $1 million bail-for-freedom deal – "wonderful news."

The release capped complicated diplomatic maneuvers over a week of confusing signals by Iran's leadership on the fate of Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer.

Although the fate of the two gripped America, it was on the periphery of the larger showdowns between Washington and Tehran that include Iran's nuclear program and its ambitions to widen military and political influence in the Middle East and beyond. But – for a moment at least – U.S. officials may be adding words of thanks in addition to their calls for alarm over Iran.

For Tehran, it was a chance to court some goodwill after sending a message of defiance with hard-line justice in the July 2009 arrests of the Americans along the Iran-Iraq border. The Americans always maintained they were innocent hikers.

Do you really thing these two knuckleheads would be referred to as “hikers” if a Republican was in the White House. By the way, all three of these so-called hikers are Pie-in-the-Sky Liberal idiots.

Florida funeral home offers liquefaction for the dead (AKA Going Green Funerals)

Only the Liberal mind can come up this this kind of thinking.

Daily Mail

A Florida funeral home has introduced an eerie alternative to burial or cremation - body liquefaction.
The stainless steel machine can dissolve a corpse in just under three hours, and the 'brownish, syrupy' liquid is then pumped into the municipal water system.
The bones remaining can be ground down and returned to the family, rather like ashes from a cremation.

Greek business-owner sets fire to himself outside bank after he was left riddled with debt in Greece’s failing economy

This is one of the wildest things I’ve ever seen. Maybe this will become a trend in the United States in Obama’s horrid economy?

Daily Mail

This is the terrifying moment a man set himself on fire outside a branch of Piraeus bank in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki. The unnamed 55-year-old was heard to shout out that he was in debt as he covered himself in gasoline today. According to police, this was the third attempt he had made to harm himself in such a way.

He had apparently set himself on fire and suffered burns 15 months ago, after complaining he could not pay back the debts from his failed business. Police used fire extinguishers to put out the blaze and the man has now been hospitalized with non life-threatening chest burns.

Woman Teonna Brown gets five years in savage beating of transgender woman in McDonald's

I reported on this story when it happened. This beat down was totally unnecessary and I’m glad the animal responsible is gonna do time for the crime.

Daily Mail

A woman who confessed to her role in a vicious beating of a transgender woman in a Maryland McDonald's has been sentenced to five years in jail.

Teonna Brown, 19, pleaded guilty last month to first-degree assault and a hate crime and was sentenced in Maryland court on Tuesday.

The April beating at the McDonald's in Rosedale attracted national attention after a video of the attack was posted online. A girl who was 14 at the time of the attack admitted her role in juvenile court and was committed to a detention facility.

State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger says the beating was one of the worst he has seen, especially because surveillance video revealed that over the course of 15 minutes, the attackers left and came back to beat the woman again.

Hooker: Chancellor George Osborne ‘a regular coke user’

AN ex-hooker has repeated claims that Chancellor George Osborne used to snort cocaine.

Former escort agency boss Natalie Rowe told a TV show he "regularly" took the drug with her in the 1990s while a Tory aide. She said:

"He took it on a regular basis with me, with his friends. There were more witnesses, not just me, that witnessed George Osborne taking cocaine. There are other people out there that know the truth."
Speaking about a party in 1994 at which she was pictured with Mr Osborne, she said: "On that particular night he had taken a line.

Egyptians storm Israeli Embassy building, remove flag

I thought the so-called Arab Spring was supposed to be a good thing? Where is the Leftwing media now who breathlessly wanted to give Barack Obama credit for the democracy movement in the Middle East?

What happened yesterday is only the beginning of very dangerous times for the state of Israel.

YMET News

Hundreds of Egyptian activists on Friday demolished parts of the wall erected around a building housing the Israeli embassy in Cairo to protect it against demonstrators.

Some of the protesters then stormed the embassy premises and tore down the flag from the building for the second time in less than a month. Eyewitnesses reported that the protesters threw the flag on the street, prompting loud cheers from the mass crowds gathered outside the embassy.

Perfect Storm of Hype to prop up sagging Prez Obama: Politicians, the media and the Hurricane Irene apocalypse that never was

I don’t know where Hurricane Ireme ranks as a deadly storm, but I doubt it’s in the top 5.

From the beginning this storm was hyped by the media and politicians to avoid being Katrinacized.

But, that was never in the cards anyway for even if Hurricane Irene killed hundreds or even thousands, the main stream media would’ve portrayed President Obama as a courageous at the helm making decisions that saved the lives of millions.

UK Telegraph

For the television reporter, clad in his red cagoule emblazoned with the CNN logo, it was a dramatic on-air moment, broadcasting live from Long Island, New York during a hurricane that also threatened Manhattan.

“We are in, right, now…the right eye wall, no doubt about that…there you see the surf,” he said breathlessly. “That tells a story right there.”

Stumbling and apparently buffeted by ferocious gusts, he took shelter next to a building. “This is our protection from the wind,” he explained. “It’s been truly remarkable to watch the power of the ocean here.”

The surf may have told a story but so too did the sight behind the reporter of people chatting and ambling along the sea front and just goofing around. There was a man in a t-shirt, a woman waving her arms and then walking backwards. Then someone on a bicycle glided past.

Across the screen, the “Breaking News: Irene Batters Long Island” caption was replaced by stern advice from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA): “Stay inside, stay safe.”

The images summed up Hurricane Irene – the media and the United States federal government trying to live up to their own doom-laden warnings and predictions while a sizeable number of ordinary Americans just carried on as normal and even made gentle fun of all the fuss.

There was almost palpable disappointment among the TV big guns rolled out for the occasion when Irene was downgraded to a mere ‘tropical storm”. In New York city, CNN’s silver-haired Anderson Cooper, more usually seen in a tight t-shirt in a famine or war zone, was clad in what one wag dubbed “disaster casual”.

He looked crestfallen and fell briefly silent when a weatherwoman told him that the rain was not going to get any worse. “Wow, because this isn’t so bad,” he said. “It’s an annoying rain but it isn’t even a sideways rain.”

Then came the press conferences from the politicians, with Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey insisting that his evacuation of the Jersey Shore was “a pre-emptive measure that I am confident saved lives” and there could still be damage worth “tens of billions” of dollars.

Janet Napolitano, the Homeland Security chief, declared that there was “a ways to go with Irene” but “with the evacuations and other precautions taken we have dramatically decreased the risk to life”. Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York seemed thoroughly delighted with himself, as if he personally had calmed the waters and stifled the winds.

DSK Case: Prosecutors Recommend Dismissal Of Sexual Assault Charges- Nafissatou Diallo not credible

As I predicted weeks ago that this case was going nowhere! Manhattan DA doesn’t want to go into court on the word of a hooker masquerading as a maid to hook-up with johns at a trendy New York hotel.

Look for Nafissatou Diallo and her ambulance chaser lawyer to still work DSK for an out-of-court settlement to make the civil suit go away.

The Huffington Post

New York City prosecutors filed court papers Monday recommending dismissal of sexual assault charges against Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who was accused of attacking a hotel maid in May in a globally sensational case that eventually dissolved amid questions about the woman's credibility.

The accuser, Nafissatou Diallo, and her attorney, Kenneth Thompson, met briefly with representatives of the Manhattan district attorney's office to discuss the decision not to proceed with the prosecution.

Thompson didn't say what had happened inside or reveal what his client was told, but he recited a short statement condemning prosecutors for their handling of the case.

"Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance has denied the right of a woman to get justice in a rape case," he said. "He has not only turned his back on this innocent victim. But he has also turned his back on the forensic, medical and other physical evidence in this case."

A person familiar with the case earlier told The Associated Press that prosecutors had concerns about Diallo's credibility and insufficient evidence of forced sexual encounter. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Diallo is also suing Strauss-Kahn, seeking to make him pay financially if not with his freedom, a move that the diplomat's lawyers said also eroded her credibility.

Prosecutors filed paperwork with the court Monday recommending that the charges be dismissed. The document was not immediately made available to the public, so the district attorney's reasons for asking for the dismissal were not known.

Caught on Video: Stunt pilot Bryan Jensen killed in fiery air show crash after plane nosedives into deadly downward spiral at Kansas City Air Show

Daily Mail

A stunt pilot has been killed in fiery crash during an air show after his plane appeared unable to get out of a downward spiral.

The biplane plummeted nose-first into the ground at the downtown Kansas City air show, after the pilot was unable to pull out of a manoeuvre.

No spectators were injured, Missouri Department of Aviation spokesman Joe McBride said.

It was the first fatal crash at the annual Kansas City Aviation Expo Air Show. Event officials identified the fallen pilot as Bryan Jensen.

A website promoting a pilot by the same name who was scheduled to perform at the show said he had been flying aerobatics for 15 years, worked for a major airline and had more than 23,000 hours of flight time.

Witnesses told the Kansas City Star that the red biplane was performing loops, then couldn't pull up from a downward spiral. They said the crowd fell silent when the plane hit the ground and burst into flames.

Ambush strains Israel-Egypt ties; Violence rises Wasn’t the Arab Spring supposed to be a good thing?

Where are the cameras from the mainstream media covering the after effects of the so-called peaceful Egyptian revolution? It was always a sham to cover up the fact that the Muslim Brotherhood was taking over Egypt.

And President Barack Obama doesn’t give a rip about Israel. Here’s another reason he needs to be voted out of office in 2012 before Israel is destroyed.

CBS News

Egypt registered an official complaint with Israel Friday over the deaths of five of its soldiers in fighting after an ambush targeting Israelis near the border between the two countries as tensions spiked between the two formerly staunch allies.

Adding to the strained ties, the Egyptian Cabinet says it has decided to withdraw its ambassador from Israel. The Cabinet statement issued early Saturday says the ambassador will be withdrawn until Israel investigates the shooting deaths of the Egyptian security forces.

Retaliatory violence between Israel and the Islamic militant group Hamas also escalated Friday in the aftermath of the deadliest attack against Israelis in three years. Israeli airstrikes killed at least 12 Palestinians, most of them militants, in the Gaza Strip, and six Israelis were wounded when Palestinians fired rockets into southern Israel.

Egypt's official news agency blamed an Israeli fighter jet for shooting and killing four Egyptian soldiers and one policeman while chasing militants who killed eight Israelis in Thursday's ambush in southern Israel.

An Israeli military officer said a suicide bomber, not Israeli soldiers, killed the Egyptian security forces. He said the attacker had fled back across the border into Egypt and detonated his explosives among the Egyptian troops. He spoke on condition of anonymity according to military regulations. Israeli media reported that some of the sniper fire directed at the Israeli motorists Thursday came from near Egyptian army posts and speculated that the Egyptian troops were killed in the cross fire.

It was not possible to reconcile the different versions.

"There was an exchange of fire between Israeli soldiers and terrorists on the Egyptian border following the deadly terror attack Thursday morning. We are investigating this matter thoroughly and will update the Egyptians," the Israeli military said.

Thursday's attack signaled a new danger for Israel from its border with the Sinai Peninsula, an area that has always been restive but was kept largely under control by former Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak. The desert area has become increasingly lawless since Mubarak was ousted on Feb. 11 following a popular uprising.

The violence also threatened to further damage ties between the two countries if Egypt's political upheaval and a resulting power vacuum in Sinai allows Gaza militants, who had been pummeled by a punishing Israeli three-week war 2½ years ago, to open a new front against Israel in the frontier area.

Pakistani Muslim Love Triangle New Jersey Muslim man (Kashif Parvaiz,) schemed with lover (Antoinette Stephen) to murder wife (Nazish Noorani)

This guy actually lets his lover shoot him 4 times in a devious plot to murder his wife. Pretty slick, huh?

Daily Mail

* Texts spelled out plot to kill innocent mother, prosecutors say

* Husband, who was also shot in the attack, charged with killing his wife

* Alleged mistress thought to have pulled the trigger, also charged with murder

* Young Muslim woman had sent text predicting her own death

* Said to have angered husband by speaking negatively about his family

* Woman was hit near heart, while husband was struck four times in ankle and shoulder and escaped alive. Three-year-old boy unhurt

The husband of a young Muslim woman killed in New Jersey while out walking with him and their three-year-old son planned her murder in a series of chilling text messages, it has been claimed.

Kashif Parvaiz, 26, who has been charged after admitting he was involved in the killing of his wife Nazish Noorani, also 26, sent a series of messages to his alleged lover and gunwoman, Antoinette Stephen, which chart their movements in the hours before the attack.

Mrs Moorani was killed just three blocks from her sister's house in the heavily Pakistani area of Boonton on Tuesday evening. The shooting left Parvaiz with four superficial gunshot wounds but he survived. The young boy, who was found covered in his parents' blood, was unhurt.

Antoinette Stephen, an alleged mistress who lived in the same apartment building as the man has also been charged with murder after being seized by police in Boston.

The messages appear to show the lovers even staged a dry run before the shooting on Tuesday, checking how far away the local police station was in order to plot and escape route.
