1.       “My daughter insists that her phone be Wifi capable? What does this mean? Why does she need it?”

Wi-fi capable means that it is able to access wi-fi internet connection. With a wi-fi capable phone, your daughter can access the internet wherever she wants as long as there is a wifi network available. She would need it in order to use the internet when she's out and about, or simply for accessing facebook/ other social networking sites.

2.       The mother says “She wants the camera in the phone to be at least 5 Meg thingys, what does this mean? Does she need it?”Do you mean 5 Megapixels? 5 megapixels is a term use to describe the quality of a camera. The higher the megapixels, the better the picture quality will turn out to be. It is not necissarily needed unless she wishes to take good quality photographs with her phone. With a 5 megapixel phone, the photos will be crisp, sharp, and clear.

3.       “My daughter wants a phone with a capacitive touch screen. They seem more expensive, what advantages do they offer over other types of touch screens?”A capacative touch screen panel consists of an insulator such as glass, coated with a transparent conductor such as indium tin oxide. There are many advantages of a capacative touch screen as they have a high touch resolution and it's visibility is good even in sunlight. It isn't affected by dirt, grease, or moisture and there is multi touch support available.

4.       “Are all phone as smart as one another? What is the smartest phone at the moment and why?”No not all phones are as smart as one another. We are not completely sure of the smartest phone at the moment but the highest rated phone on the market according to cnetAustralia is the "HTC Desire HD". It has outstanding performance complementing it's large, clear display. It has an LCD display with an 800 x 480 resolution. It gives you the ability to download certain apps to enhance your phone experience.

5.       “She wants to take lots of video and photos. How do I know which phone can store the most videos and photos?”
You can do some further research to find out which phones are capable of using additional memory cards in order to store the most videos and photos. Some phones come with a lot of inbuilt memory however others do not. You can search up "memory allowance for (insert name of phone here)" and it will tell you if that phone is compatible with other memory cards so that your daughter can take lots of videos and photos.

6.       “She says she wants to be able to buys apps. What are apps? What sort of useful apps cold she access? What types of phones can buy and use apps?”
Apps are little applications that can be downloaded to enhance your phone experience. Their purposes range from educational to entertainment purposes. There are apps that can let you check the weather, read books, find dictionary meanings, and play games. She can access educational apps that would help her when doing homework. The new Nokia phones, Blackberries, HTC, and iPhones can buy and use these apps.
