Stephen Hawking’s disbelief in Heaven may indicate that he’s on the verge of his greatest discovery

I feel sorry for Hawking in more way than one. First, I can’t imagine what his life must be like processing such a gifted mind, and yet having to live locked in a shell of a broken body ravaged by ALS.

However, the impressive thing is that despite his disability he’s achieved much in his life. Many consider him the smartest man in the world.

So who am I am to argue?

Yes, Hawking is a genius, which is noteworthy and without question. Yet, although he is extremely smart, it’s not coupled with Godly sense--for if Hawking had this kind of sense, he would be able to fathom the world around him and comprehend beyond what his eyes see. If he had this kind of sense, he would easily determine that the complexities of the universe couldn’t possibly be formed by happenstance.

The Bible specifically speaks about people like Hawking:

1 Corinthians 1:20-21, 25

“So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.”

“This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.”

Basically these verses speaks to how the idea of God and Heaven and other such things associated with that seems like utter foolishness to the Uber-intelligent people of the world. People like these or Hawking in particular are unable to understand God and His existence because their own intellect doesn’t allow them to make the leap into faith understanding in God. This doesn’t mean that Hawking will be an atheist for the rest of his life. It only means that God hasn’t made Himself manifest to Hawking in a personal way.

I have hope for Hawking and others like him.

I think he is on the verge of his greatest discovery, that yes, Heaven is real and so is God in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Believing is good!
