Broadband research

1.      What is broadband?Broadband (internet access) is a high data rate connection to the Internet - typically contrasted with dial-up access using 56 kbit/s modem.
2.      Outline the methods of delivery of broadband (wireless, cable, ADSL and fibre)? Identify the speed of each method.- Wireless:
- Cable: 20mbit-50mbit
- ADSL: Typically ranges from 256 kbit/s to 20 Mbit/s
- Fibre: 100 mb p/s
3.      Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each method.Advantages of wireless: No hassle or need to connect wires and cables.
Disadvantages of wireless: Loss of internet connection. Restricted to how far your connection can reach up to within your house.

Advantages of cable: No connection lost as the cable is always plugged into your computer. Less likely to lose connection
Disadvantages: You have to stay in the same place all the time. When you accidentally tug on your laptop, the internet connection is lost.
4.      Give examples of broadband providers and identify the costs.
5.      The Federal Government is thinking of rolling out a national broadband network (The NBN). Research the NBN and find out:
a.       what method of delivery it will use
b.      the expected speed
c.       the expected costs
6.      Do you think Australians should invest in The NBN? Justify your answer.
