Saturday Morning

Today I sit at work in the kiosk near the boat landing and look out of the window to see the calm lake acting as a mirror as it reflects the surrounding mountains with a few patches of white snow remaining. The guests are just starting to wake and walk around with intentions of planning activities for the day. A few need housekeeping supplies when they come to my window, others have questions about activities, some just stop by to say hello, and others turn in room keys as they plan to depart from Stehekin today. Boats pull in and out of the boat dock and re-fuel for a fun day of tubing on the lake. Local vehicles pass by every now and again to purchase items from the store or have coffee in the restaurant. No trips are scheduled for the orange float plane today. Mornings are my favorite time in the kiosk on days like this. It is so quiet and peaceful and a subtle remainder as to one of the many reasons we chose to come to Stehekin. Steven woke early to head up to the ranch for a short day of packing to Flat Creek and pack. The gear arrived on the park boat around 8:30 and was unloaded in a truck that headed up the road to meet him at the trail head. He will have a long day of riding, but one that he enjoys as he spends time with the horses and nature. My only wish is that I was able to ride with him, just like before. Enough thoughts for now...hope you enjoy your day where-ever you may be!
