Setting the Record Straight on Barry Goldwater the Man. Prt l

To this day Barry Goldwater’s legacy as a strong Conservative has been utterly misrepresented by the Left to portray him as racist.

Nothing can be farther from truth!

Goldwater was not only a champion for Liberty but alsp equality for all Americans and the following except from Goldwater: The Man Who Made a Revolution by Lee Edwards demonstrates:

"As a member of the Phoenix City Council, Goldwater had voted to desegregate the restaurants at Sky Harbor Airport.

As chief of state for the Arizona Air National Guard, he has pushed for the desegregation of the guard.

As a businessman, he had opened his doors to everyone.

As a senator, he had desegregated the senate cafeteria in 1953, insisting that his Black legislative assistant, Katherine Maxwell, be served along with every other senate employee.

He was a member of the both the Tucson and Phoenix chapters of the NAACP, but withdrew his membership when they started attacking him politically.

Goldwater was also a strong supporter of the Phoenix Urban League, particularly telling in the days when it was not fashionable for White businessman to care about racial relations."

I’ll be submitting excerpts in the days to come.
