Sandy Alderson Remains Favorite to Become GM of New York Mets

As a life-long Mets fan, I really hope the Mets make the right choice for a change. I’ve had a huge liking for Alderson ever since I read about him in Moneyball.

The Mets desperately need a baseball man with credibility and who knows how to build a championship producing organization.

Mets Blog reports that according to David Lennon of Newsday, while the Mets aren’t expected to announce their next GM until after the World Series, Sandy Alderson remains the favorite to succeed Omar Minaya as the team’s next general manager.

Lennon writes:
“One person familiar with the situation said Friday that Alderson’s interview went very well and that there did not seem to be any issues with how he would fit in the Mets’ decision-making structure.”
Meanwhile, according to Buster Olney of
ESPN.com, Mets President Saul Katz is urging the Wilpons to hire someone with “experience and stature” in order to help begin to restore faith in the fan base.
