Hill Street Blues-Greatest TV Drama Ever

Well, at least that’s the way I feel about it. From 1981 to 1987, HSB was must see television on Thursday nights at 10:00 pm.

Created by Steven Bochco, the cop-show was unlike any other before it with it’s ensemble cast of at least a dozen distinct and quirky characters, use of hand-held cameras, and unpredictable plot twists.

It’s was a stone cold drama with heavy comedic elements that can go from one hilarious scene one minute, and a out of nowhere a shooting, a robbery, or somebody falls off a building that changes the mood of he show, in seconds.

It was an emotional rollercoaster every week and the writing was unrivaled for TV at the time.

Imagine that?

Real writers writing a drama, with real actors, directors and producers making a quality dramatic show.

You folks that are into reality shows and think that contrived load of crap is real drama don’t really know what you’re missing.

Oh, something else I forgot to mention. This TV series showed men acting like real men instead of the femenized baffons we see today
