Jose Reyes wins batting title amidst controversy

For the first time in New York Mets franchise history, a Mets player has won a batting title.

Shortstop Jose Reyes finished the season with a .337 batting average.

However, Reyes may have tainted his accomplishment a bit after requesting to leave the game in the first inning after he laid down a bunt single. Many fans were left with a bitter taste in their mouths wanting Reyes to fully compete for the batting title.

That left it up for Milwaukee Brewers LF Ryan Braun to get 3 hits in no more than 4 at bats to surpass Reyes. However, at the writing of this post in the 6th inning in the last game for the season against the Pittsburg Pirates, Braun was 0-3 with his team winning 7-2.

So Reyes wins the batting crown! But, he still should’ve played the whole game and not back into a batting crown.
