Vesta Williams

Rhythm and Blues Singer. Born Mary Vesta Williams, she launched her solo career in Los Angeles, California and worked in the music industry as a jingle and background singer. She obtained a recording contract with A&M Records and her debut album, "Vesta" was released in 1986. This album featured her first top ten rhythm and blues hit "Once Bitten, Twice Shy". Her hit "Congratulations" was from her 1988 second album release, "Vesta 4 U", which showcased her four octave voice range. Throughout her career she had seven Top 20 R&B hits. She also had occasional acting roles, appearing in the television series "Sister, Sister" and in the film "Posse". She was found dead in a Los Angeles-area hotel room at the age 53.
